Homemade Crispy Onion Rings
Crispy Onion Rings makes a perfect vegetarian tea time snack recipe and is very much popular with kids. Instead of buying deep fried packed snacks for your kids party, try this recipe which is done with some tweaking in the traditional way of making it. Generally onion rings is a deep fried recipe but try this recipe with grille pan or bake it in oven to make it healthy and yet delicious.

Ingredients
2 large onions, cut into rings
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon pink salt
Light olive oil
red chilly flakes as per the taste
1 teaspoon garlic flakes

Directions

  1. Start by cutting the onions into rings about ¼ of an inch thick, separating them from each other. This recipe works best with the big and medium sized rings.
  2. Soak onion rings in a bowl of ice water for 1 hour; drain and pat dry with paper towels.
  3. Whisk 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons flour, milk, 2 tablespoons olive oil, spices(oregano, fried garlic, red chilly flakes, black pepper) of your choice, pink salt together in a bowl until smooth.
  4. Preheat Grill Pan with Light Olive Oil Dripped to do shallow frying
  5. Dip onion rings in the batter, working in batches, until evenly coated and arrange in 1 layer on a plate.
  6. For Shallow Fry: Put the battered onion rings, working in batches, until browned, about 5 minutes. Transfer fried onion rings to a paper towel-lined plate using a slotted spoon.
  7. For Baking: Transfer coated onion rings to a large baking sheet; spray rings lightly with cooking spray.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven until onion rings are tender and crumbs are lightly golden brown, 12 to 15 minutes.
